Breakout Filmmaker Mateo Mejia Joins Entropico

Entropico, the award-winning global creative company, has signed filmmaker Mateo Mejia, marking the Bogotá-born, Houston-raised talent’s first-ever roster signing. Known for blending DIY realism, cinematic world-building, and AI experimentation, Mejia brings millions of viral views and a cult following for his experimental shorts.

A self-taught creator, Mejia built his style using whatever tools he had–mixing analog and digital, documentary and fiction. Often described as making “trailers for movies that don’t exist,” his fast-paced storytelling draws from classic cinema and the language of film trailers. An 8.1M-view experimental reel and a digital book project with 5M views reflect his ability to build immersive stories in just 1–2 minutes.

From iPhones to high-end rigs, Mejia creates work that feels both handcrafted and cinematic. “I like to make it feel like I’m a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none character from a 90s film,” he says. He’s also part of a small but growing group of creators pushing “generative video”—hybrid workflows merging live-action with AI-generated environments. “AI isn’t replacing creativity, it’s enhancing it,” he adds.

His “Currently Stuck” series has built a devoted following for its vulnerability and voice. One short, “Growing out of what once felt like home…,” shot on a Blackmagic 6K, blends real footage with surreal Midjourney, Kaiber, and MiniMax sequences of a melting suburb.

“Creating timeless work that audiences will reference for years to come, alongside other talented artists, is the whole reason I got into this to begin with,” says Mejia. “With Entropico, I’m excited to explore new ways to merge entertainment with the fast-paced evolution of technology.”

“Mateo embodies everything we look for in a director at Entropico,” adds CCO Joey Hunter. “Restless creativity, a distinct POV, and the courage to experiment. We’re thrilled to be his first creative and production home.”
