What happens when you try to fit a 10-week animation project into just 4 weeks?
You get strategic.
You get scrappy.
And if you get a little bit lucky, you can walk away with something you’re genuinely proud of.
That was the challenge on our latest project: a client requested, manga-inspired, cel-animated :30 spot for a new AI dashboard.
Cel animation is expressive, detailed, and time-consuming. Compressing our usual process like style frames, storyboards, animatics, roughs, and cleanup into four weeks is highly ambitious.
But here’s what made it even trickier:
We had to simultaneously design for multiple aspect ratios like 16:9, 9:16,1:1 and 4:5.
This is where having a shared Slack channel with our agency partner really came in handy.
Director, Tim Pachuau, played a critical role in ensuring the story, composition, and design language held together across every version.
Tight timelines and shifting formats force clarity but good direction almost always turns into great work.
