I developed a project for the Danish electric bicycle brand, Mate. They wanted a roughly 30-second animation to highlight a new product: a bicycle aimed at families and stylish parents.
It’s a high-end, fairly expensive bicycle, and the idea was to show how it can be used for taking your kids to school, grabbing a specialty coffee, going to the park, or doing some grocery shopping, since it has a front basket and the option to add a child seat.
In short, they wanted to showcase the bike’s versatility and how it fits into different everyday scenarios for modern parents.
The idea was to create, based on my style, five abstract scenes representing a children’s playground, a grocery shopping moment with fruits and vegetables, an urban commuting setting, a café scene, and a kindergarten environment.
The main challenge was ensuring that the bicycle remained the focal point of each scene, despite the geometric shapes and abstract compositions in the background.
Finding the right balance of objects, color palette, and lighting in the 3D scenes was key to making the bicycle stand out.
Once that challenge was resolved, we moved on to the animation process, which turned out to be quite straightforward and smooth, as the project aligned perfectly with what I usually do, and I had a clear vision from the start.
It was a really enjoyable process, with the client being happy from the very beginning, and I hope to continue working on similar projects, applying my art and vision in the world of 3D animation and beyond.
